I'm so pleased to have a class this year which is dedicated to ecofriendly lessons in order to help our students gain awareness and respect for our planet's limited resources.
Currently, Monroe Middle School does the following actions in our efforts to "go green".
Recycle mixed paper
Recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans
Airconditioning shuts off by sensor
Building lighting shuts off by sensor
Teachers recycle classroom resources (scratch paper, give unused materials to other educators)
New plans for the 2009-2010 school year: recycle cell phones and ink cartridges, e-waste campaign, composting
